PLANOCOAT EPX & PLANOCOAT EPX FREEZE

Two component epoxy floor paint free of solvent or water

Two-component, solvent and water free epoxy paint (VOC = 0g/L). Available in the RAL colors of the PLANOCOLOR RESIN RAL color chart. Suitable for floors and walls in areas with chemical stress, such as: factories, warehouses, parking lots. After ‘scattering’ PLANOCOLOR GRANULATES S 500 sand in the still ‘fresh’ 1st layer  and by covering the remaining sand in the 2nd layer, a non-slip final surface is created. It is also applied as colored substrate before the application of PLANOCOLOR LIQUID GLASS. Upon request, it is available in the PLANOCOLAT EPX FREEZE version which is applied at temperatures from  0°C and above. The application should be done on a suitable substrate without rising moisture, primed with WATER PRIMER EPX or PLANOPRIMER EPOXY depending on the type of application.

Description

  • PLANOCOAT EPX is used as a paint and coating for protection of floors, concrete and cement mortars such as:
    • industrial flooring in production, maintenance and storage areas
    • medium traffic floors such as garages, and car parks
    • floors with normal use such as public buildings, schools, offices, hospitals, showrooms
    • in combination with quartz sand of suitable granulation to create an anti-slip coating

Substrate preparation:

The application surface must be clean, free from grease, old coatings, loose elements, compact with a compressive strength of at least 25 N / mm² and a tensile strength of more than 1.5 N / mm². In addition, the surface must be dry and protected from rising moisture with a residual moisture content <4% by weight, determined by the CM or Darr method. Concrete substrates should be mechanically prepared, for example, by grinding to achieve a uniform surface of open porosity without protruding spots. Where smoothing is required, the use of controlled curing and drying mortars such as one of PLANO 120 S/F, RC 240 or NOVACEM RAPID FLOW is recommended according to the requirements of each application. Existing cracks in the substrate must be bonded to the EPO FLUID or EPO PASTE two-component epoxy adhesive. Absorbent substrates should be primed with the WATER PRIMER EPX epoxy primer in a continuous coating without pores. If necessary, for example on substrates of reduced mechanical strength, apply two coats of primer. Non-absorbent substrates, such as existing ceramic tiles without rising moisture, are recommended to use PLANOPRIMER EPOXY. Metal surfaces require rust cleaning by mechanical means, wire brush, sandblasting or using the RUST CONVERTER and then PLANOPRIMER EPOXY. Preparation of the mix:

Before mixing the two ingredients, agitate thoroughly with component A. When the addition of all component B to component A is complete, mix for at least two minutes with a low speed (300 - 400 rpm) electric mixer until a homogeneous mixture is created. Avoid excessive mixing in both time and speed to reduce the risk of air entrapment and shorten the shelf life of the mixture.

Application of the mix:

Apply two layers as an epoxy paint in two vertical directions using a short brush, brush or spray (airless) at a substrate and ambient temperature between + 15°C and + 30°C and a relative humidity <80%. As a sealant, apply PLANOCOAT EPX with a spatula or rubber and use a short roll in two vertical directions. Where there is a requirement for a non-slip surface, then the first hand of the paint and as long as it is wet, the quartz sand PLANOCOLOR GRANULATES S 500 or other, depending on the requirements of the application, is applied. After hardening of the layer, uncoated granules of quartz sand must be removed with a high absorbency vacuum cleaner. Then apply a second coat until the quartz sand that has remained on the surface after cleaning, is sufficiently covered with dye.
