NOVACEM PRONTO

Ready to mixed only with water cement based screed for leveling thickness of 2 - 15cm

Reduced weight (30 – 40%) cement screed for floors. It is mixed only with water and is pumpable.  Mix by using electrical stirrer or construction mixer. Waiting time before laying ceramic tiles: 48 hours (4cm layer thickness). It creates an ideal substrate prior to the application of waterproofing products such as SC ELASTIC, or NOVAROOF AC FIBER.

Consumption: 13-16 kg/m²/cm of thickness
Color: Grey
Package: Paper bags 25 kg
Pallet: 1350 kg

Description

  • NOVACEM PRONTO is suitable for:
    • construction and repairs with reduced load requirements such as residential and naval
    • filling floors with pumpable mortars
    • floor levelling prior to the application of ceramic tiles, natural stones, etc.
    • floor renovations
    • creating bonded screeds of minimum 20 mm up to 150 mm thickness
    • creating floating screeds of minimum 50 mm up to 150 mm thickness
  • Form: powder
  • Application thickness: 2 - 15 cm
  • Workability: ≈ 45 minutes / 20°C
  • Walkability: 4 - 6 hours
  • Application temperature: from +5°C up to +35°C

Substrate preparation:

The substrate has to be compact, clean free of grease, oil and laitance and any substances which may compromise the adhesion of NOVACEM PRONTO. Existing cracks in the concrete surface must be properly repaired. The levelling mortar should be separated from the vertical elements of the construction (walls, columns etc.) in its total thickness, by means of a deformable band of 5 - 10 mm. Existing construction movement joints from the substrate should not be covered from the levelling mortar.

Preparation of the mix:

Mix the content of the 25kg paper bag with 2.75–3.25 liters of clean and fresh water with an electrical stirrer by high speed for at least 3–5 min or by using construction mixer, until a viscous uniform mortar free of lumps is obtained. In this way the specific weight of the dry mortar we achieve is 1.3-1.4 kg/L. If a concrete mixer is used with a mixing time of 3-5 minutes, the specific gravity is set at 1.5 – 1.6 kg/L. Lower turns as well as shorter mixing time (2-3 min) give mortars with a higher final density of 1.6-1.8 kg/L.

Application:

NOVACEM PRONTO is applied in the same way as a typical floor screed: preparation of guides, application of the fluid mortar after mixing. Levelling of the surface can take place by means of metallic bar and smoothing by using suitable metallic trowel. For bonded screeds (20 - 50mm) it is recommended to apply first a bonding slurry composed of 3-4 parts of Portland cement 1 part of water and 1 part of enhancing latex like SBR 50. Apply the NOVACEM PRONTO mortar wet on wet. In cases where the application is interrupted, it is required to connect the two screeds by means of metallic mesh (dimensions 20 x 20 cm, diameter of 5mm) in the total length of the connection and application of bonding slurry. For floating screeds with minimum thickness of 50 mm should take place on a level substrate covered with polyethylene sheet or similar membrane, where each sheet overlaps the other at least 20 cm, making sure to continue also on the vertical elements (in example walls) in the total thickness of the screed. The start of coating work varies depending on the application thickness and the environmental conditions of the space and the substrate. The following waiting times for the installation of ceramic tiles are indicated as indicative.

Recommendations:

NOVACEM PRONTO should not be applied:

  • In cases where the substrate and environment temperature are less than +5°C or higher than +35°C
  • On substrates with tensile strength less than 1,5N/mm²
  • Directly on anhydrite, metal or flexible substrates
  • On substrates with rising damp
  • On substrates not properly prepared or primed
  • On friable or non-properly cured substrates
  • Over existing expansion joints
  • Do not exceed 15 cm thickness per layer
  • Under direct sunlight and/or strong drying wind

Also note the following:

  • Never exceed the maximum recommended quantity of mixing water
  • Do not add cement, lime, gypsum or other binders or substances which may affect the mortar characteristics
  • In any case you should ensure that the residual humidity is lower than that required by the coating product.
  • Application should be performed by professional users

Cleaning:

Tools, buckets, tiles etc. Can be cleaned with fresh, clean water as long as, NOVACEM PRONTO is still fresh. After hardening occurs, cleaning can take place by mechanical means.
