PLANOCOLOR ANTICO

One component white microcement wall or ceilings coating with ‘rustic finish'

Traditional textured microcement coating in the form of white powder that is mixed only with water and NOVACOLOR DESIGN A/V pigments, in order to achieve shades of the PLANOCOLOR MICROCEMENT color chart.  It is suitable for applications in interior and exterior masonry, ceilings and wet areas such as baths, but not for permanent immersion in water. It is applied to a thickness of a few mm on a properly primed or waterproofed surface, depending on the type of substrate which may be plaster, smooth concrete, cement board or plaster board. For a “rough” texture of “aged” and traditional appearance, it can either be mixed with the ultra-fine granulates PLANOCOLOR KURASANI ADDITIVE or treat the microcement surface upon application with water or acid solution depending on the desired final texture & pattern.

Description

  • PLANOCOLOR ANTICO microcement coating is suitable for:
    • creating decorative coatings of high aesthetics in texture and appearance
    • creating decorative micro-cement coatings with very smooth finish
    • creating traditional texture and appearance with a showcase of PLANOCOLOR KURASANI ADDITIVE
    • wet rooms, bathrooms, etc.
    • applications in various substrates such as:
        • concrete, cement screed mortars
        • renders and masonry mortars
        • cement and gypsum boards (with appropriate primer)
  • Form: powder
  • Compressive strength: ≥ 10 N/mm²
  • Adhesion: ≥ 1,0 N/mm²
  • POT life: 3 - 4 hours
  • Application temperature: from +5°C up to +35°C

Substrate preparation:

Cement based substrates must be compact, without cracks, free of dust, salts, grease and any other materials that could reduce adhesion of PLANOCOLOR ANTICO to them. Concrete substrates should be mechanically prepared, for example by grinding, in order to achieve a uniform surface of open porosity without protruding edged. For gypsum based substrates, it is necessary to prime the substrate with NOVAPRIMER. Non-absorbent substrates are recommended to be primed with PLANO CONTACT FAST or SC ELASTIC. For more information, please refer to the relative Technical Data Sheets of the products.

Preparation of the mix:

Mix the PLANOCOLOR ANTICO bag (20 kg) with 6,0 – 6,5 liters of clean water with a low-speed electric mixer for at least 3 - 5 minutes. Mixing should take place until the mixture is completely uniform and free of lumps. It is recommended to mix the pigment first with water. To achieve the shade of the PLANOCOLOR color chart, a NOVACOLOR DESIGN A/V pigment is mixed with every 10 kg PLANOCOLOR ANTICO. The product is ready for use. The mixture has approximately 3 - 4 hours of pot life.
The 25 kg case of PLANOCOLOR KURASANI ADDITIVE is recommended to be added after the addition of PLANOCOLOR ANTICO to water, where the quantity is increased to 6 - 7 liters.

Application of the mix:

The mix is applied with a trowel in one or more layers at a total thickness not exceeding 5 mm, with a maximum per coat thickness of 2 mm. The waiting time between layers must be 2 - 3 hours depending on the temperature and the humidity of the environment.

Recommendations:

  • Do not apply when substrate and ambient temperatures are below +5°C and higher than +35°C
  • Do not apply upon metal or wood or surfaces such as polyurethane, acrylic, paints and substrates subjected to big movements
  • Do not apply upon PVC membranes, bituminous membranes and other materials that polymerize in the long run
  • Do not apply upon loose substrates or substrates with insufficient cure
  • Do not apply upon non-absorbent substrates without proper preparation
  • Do not cover existing expansion joints of the substrate
  • Do not apply during direct sunlight and/or strong wind presence
  • Do not exceed the recommended quantity of the mixing water and of 25 kg of PLANOCOLOR KURASANI ADDITIVE per 20 kg of PLANOCOLOR ANTICO
  • Protect from rain or frost the first 24 hours
  • Do not add cement, gypsum, lime or other additives that might affect the properties of the mortar
  • Application to be performed by professional users

Cleaning:

Buckets, tools, coatings etc. can be cleaned with water as long as the mix is still fresh. Once dried cleaning can be done only by mechanical means.
