PLANOFINISH PU/W

Aliphatic polyurethane varnish

Two component, water based aliphatic polyurethane varnish, with low VOC and satin finish. Suitable for the protection of microcement coatings on wet areas, internal and external floors, walls and ceilings. It is applied undiluted in 2 layers, on surfaces primed with PLANOPRIMER undiluted.

Consumption: 150-200 ml/m²
Package: 5,5 L (A: 5 L, B: 0,5 L)

Description

  • PLANOFINISH PU/W aliphatic polyurethane varnish can be used for the protection and enhancement of surfaces such as:
      • microcement coatings PLANOCOLOR MICROCEMENT for both indoor and outdoor spaces. It is suitable for heavy-use floors in houses, hotels, parking areas, outdoor benches, and custom-made furniture
      • self-leveling epoxy coatings or floor paints like the PLANOCOLOR LIQUID GLASS systems to increase their surface durability against mechanical wear and tear
      • Karystos stone and rough-hewn stones
      • wooden floors
  • Consistency: liquid
  • Working time: 2 hours at 25°C  & 3 hours at 10°C
  • Walkability: 30 minutes at 25°C & 2 – 3 hours > 10°C
  • Reapplication time: 60 minutes at 23°C
  • Abrasion resistance: 3 mg Tabertest ASTM D 4060 (CS 10/1000/1000)
  • Adhesion resistance: ≥ 2,4 N/mm²
  • Application temperature: from +10°C up to +25°C

Substrate preparation:

The surface on which PLANOFINISH PU/W is to be applied should be clean, dry, and free from dust. The substrate should be properly sealed and not subjected to rising moisture. The maximum allowable surface moisture content should not exceed 4%. For wooden surfaces, it should be between 7% and 11%. The application surface temperature should be between + 10°C and + 25°C.

Preparation of the mix:

The components A and B are provided in containers with a predetermined mixing ratio. Before mixing, thoroughly stir component A and transfer it into a clean container. Then, add component B completely to component A without stirring to avoid excessive foaming. Mixing the two components should be done for approximately 2-3 minutes using a low-speed electric mixer (300 revolutions per minute). It's important to mix both on the walls and the bottom of the container to ensure even distribution of the catalyst. Allow the mixture to mature for a few minutes and proceed with the application, adhering to the material's working times.

Application of the mix:

Apply a uniform layer of PLANOPRIMER. After drying but within 24 hours, proceed to apply PLANOFINISH PU/W in at least 2 consecutive coats using an appropriate varnish roller. The waiting time between coats should be at least 60 minutes at an ambient temperature of +23°C and relative humidity less than 80%. It is also recommended to lightly sand with 180/220 grit sandpaper between the layers.

Maintenance:

The daily cleaning of surfaces protected with a coating of PLANOFINISH PU/W should be done using neutral cleaners such as NEUTROCLEANER, either undiluted or diluted with water, depending on the application. For specific cleaning needs like removing rubber marks, household stains, wax, etc., it is recommended to use ALCALINE CLEANER diluted with water in a ratio of 1:10 to 1:40. If salt removal is required, apply ACID CLEAN diluted with water in a ratio of 1:10 and rinse thoroughly with water. In cases of uncertainty regarding cleaner use, perform a test application. For more information, refer to the respective Product Data Sheets.

Recommendations:

  • Do not apply in surfaces that are not dry
  • Do not apply the varnish on surfaces where rising humidity is possible or present
  • Do not apply when the temperature is lower than +10°C and the relative humidity of the atmosphere exceeds 80%, or when there is a possibility of rain and wet weather, before the varnish is completely dry
  • The two components of PLANOFINISH PU/W are in a premeasured proportion so never mix partially the two components
  • Do not apply PLANOFINISH PU/W upon old varnishes and dusty or dirty surfaces
  • Always use appropriate and clean tools
  • Do not apply PLANOFINISH PU/W in quantities exceeding the recommended amount
  • The application has to be performed by a professional user

Cleaning:

Buckets, tools, coatings etc. can be cleaned with water as long as the mix is still fresh. Once dried cleaning can be done only by mechanical means or strong corrosives.
